After a two-and-half-year battle with colorectal cancer, Sharon Percy Rockefeller is back on the campaign trail again, though admittedly with changes in herself and her family.
“It's been a long two and a half years,” she said Saturday while sitting down for a few minutes between appearances for her husband, Sen. Jay Rockefeller, D-W.Va. He officially announced plans for his re-election campaign in Charleston on Saturday.
The 62-year-old says her illness pulled her closer than ever to her husband and four children. “The family learns a lot,” she said.
Rockefeller withstood chemotherapy and radiation treatments while maintaining her job as chief executive officer of WETA, the Washington public broadcasting station.
